A friend once shared with me an important observation: no one in their right mind will go up to you and outright tell you "you're a horrible person". If someone does, either they're just having a lousy day and they're lashing out at you, or that YOU did something to convince that person that you really were a horrible person. Either way, none of this happens in a vacuum, and a person's attitude---positive or negative---can have a definite effect on others.

That's why I try to leave people I've never met before with a better feeling that they had before I ran into them. Even while on the phone, people can tell if you're smiling while you're talking. If you're just focusing on the negatives, you're "radiating" that negativity to others, and eventually it'll come back to you. Don't be surprised if it does.

As a side note, if I ever did make a comic series where I discuss the problems and issues us comic artists have to endure, I would make sure it would cover more than just my own perspective. "I" am not "us". There is, however, one person which I think does a better job of speaking for many of us comic artists: C Spike Trotman. You can check our her tumblr, "Spike Drew This", at the link below. She really does have a wonderful perspective on the trials and tribulations as a professional comic artist. FAIR WARNING THOUGH: her work is a little NSFW. A little. Kinda. You be the judge.

NOTES ON THE ART: Christ so I used my work computer for this one, and the drivers somehow got screwed up, but I won't get into the details. As such, I tried to see what a single width line would look like. I'm still trying to get used to the tablet... I don't think I'll be able to replicate the quality I can get from actually drawing on paper yet... but I'm still trying! Hopefully the next one will look even better than this.

It's still taking me just as long to finish a single comic, though... ¬_¬;;

I wish Tommy drew a comic page about the time that he was a supervisor in an apartment block. Some people sent prostitutes to his house.
Oh, and the time he flipped out and threw a chair in his older job?

Wait, that comic wouldn't be SYAC, it would be SYAAD (So you're an Andrew Dobson)
